Volvo has recalled a total of 413,151 vehicles in the United States of America, and another 40,673 in Canada, according to a document sent by the brand itself to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) .
The issue is a (seemingly) simple software problem, which means that the rear camera does not transmit an image when the driver reverses, something that is considered a safety issue, but which can be resolved with a simple update.
At stake are the Volvo C40 (from 2022 to 2025), S60 (from 2023 to 2025), S90 (from 2022 to 2025), V60 (from 2023 to 2025), V60 Cross Country (from 2023 to 2025), V90 (from 2023 to 2025), V90 (from 2022), Volvo V90 Cross Country (from 2022 to 2025), XC40 (from 2021 to 2025), X60 (from 2022 to 2025) and XC90 (from 2023 to 2025).
Volvo first became aware of the bug in spring 2021. Since then, it has been reported on 56 other occasions, prompting a formal investigation to be opened on March 26.
