Tesla's robotaxi expands in Austin and 'targets' San Francisco

Tesla's robotaxi will soon expand . Initially, it will cover a larger area in Austin, but company owner Elon Musk intends to also extend the service to San Francisco , California, in the coming months.
On the social network X (formerly Twitter), the Tesla Owners Silicon Valley profile asked in a post by Elon Musk when the robotaxi would arrive in the San Francisco Bay Area. To which the tycoon replied: "Waiting for regulatory approvals, but probably within a month or two ."
Tesla's robotaxi will soon make its first expansion in the city of Austin : "It will expand to a larger service area in Austin this weekend," announced Elon Musk.
So far, there has been no request for regulatory approval for Tesla's robotaxi in California, according to two state regulators cited by Reuters.
The start of testing in Austin (Texas) was marked by some incidents and violations of some traffic regulations - which led the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to demand clarification.

Around ten Model Ys are used, which, despite being driverless, have a human supervisor on board. Minors are excluded, as are operations in more sensitive contexts such as difficult intersections or bad weather.
It's worth noting that in the United States, the self-driving taxi market is dominated by Waymo. The technology company is expanding rapidly, currently operating in Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco. Miami and Washington, D.C., are the next destinations for Alphabet's autonomous Jaguar I-Pace taxis, which are undergoing driverless testing in New York.
