Formula E: Drugovich talks about expectations for the debut in Berlin

Felipe Drugovich has been one of the most recognizable names among Brazilian fans in recent years. The 2022 Formula 2 champion, who has already tested in Formula E, returns to the track this weekend for the Berlin ePrix doubleheader.
Replacing Nyck de Vries, who is competing in the 6 Hours of São Paulo, the Brazilian will make his debut as a Mahindra driver and will face a new challenge: the Gen3 EVO. But before the official announcement, the Maringá native had already tested the car with the team, where it was highly praised and considered the "ideal replacement."
Asked about his feelings with the new car, Drugovich said:
"Well, I think I at least made the right choice in which race to debut in. The team is doing very well. In their last race, if it weren't for a small error, I think they could have ended up with both cars on the podium."
"It's a track I've done well on in the past, so I'm happy with the opportunity, but I think we have to keep our expectations low. I know it's a completely different sport; Formula E is much more about the race. I think if I make a mistake in qualifying, it might not be the hardest part of the weekend; the hardest part is knowing how to play this chess game that is the Formula E race. So, it's difficult; it will take time for me to adapt, but I'm very happy that I can have a good opportunity like this. I'm happy, but I think we need to stay calm."
Still talking about the challenges of Gen3 EVO, Felipe highlighted the challenges of facing a double header right at the start:
"I'm even happier about this. I think there are more opportunities to achieve something. I have a practice session today, and I think tomorrow will be the day I try everything I need to try, maybe even make mistakes because of it. But I really need to work hard here to truly understand the limits of each thing and try to capitalize on Sunday, do the best I can on Sunday. I don't think there's any reason for me to try to do the best I can with such little time in the car, but rather compete with the drivers who have already adapted to the car for a long time (...) But I thank God it's a double round like this, that I can adapt as best as possible."
The Berlin ePrix doubleheader takes place on July 12th and 13th, and features two other Brazilians besides Drugovich: Sérgio Sette Câmara, replacing Norman Nato, also in the WEC, and Lucas Di Grassi, already a regular in the category. Check out the schedules:
