The DGT catches a driver running a stop sign: What is the penalty for this maneuver?

The DGT catches a driver running a stop sign: What is the penalty for this maneuver?

The General Directorate of Traffic is not afraid to expose and reveal any type of driving violation that occurs on Spain's roads. The primary objective of this technique is to raise awareness among drivers and inform them of the real danger that committing one of these serious actions could pose.

In recent days, the agency led by Pere Navarro has revealed through its official X profile a "serious infraction" that was committed in the province of Zamora, and which could have endangered the life of the offender in question and that of other users traveling on that section of the road.

What was the violation?

According to the DGT, and as demonstrated by the organization itself by attaching a video to the publication recorded by the UMA "with a drone" , the aforementioned person failed to respect a STOP sign on the N-VI highway, near Benavente, in the province of Zamora.

"Failing to stop at a stop sign is a serious offense . But, above all, it's a reckless act that can lead to a road accident . Images taken with a drone by the DGT's UMA on the N-VI near Benavente, Zamora," the DGT itself emphasized in the post.

What is the fine?

The General Directorate of Traffic , in addition to providing full details of the violation, emphasized the fine the driver will receive and the points they will lose on their driving license for this reckless driving offense: "A fine of 200 euros and loss of four points."

However, it seems that this DGT "hunt" has not pleased either the offender in question or certain users of the aforementioned social network, who have taken the opportunity to express their point of view in the post and express their displeasure at placing "a STOP sign in the middle of the desert."

"Yes, sometimes it's dangerous to ignore a stop sign, but it's even more dangerous to put this sign where it's not necessary because there's full visibility. Stop blaming and own up to the things you're doing wrong, which are quite a few." " There are stop signs that should be 'yield' signs. The recklessness in this case is nowhere to be seen. No cars are coming from the front, and the person on their left has to give way anyway. Half of Spain falls into that trap ." "It works on any other road, but this one is for issuing fines." "Yeah, man, we're going to put up a stop sign in the middle of the desert and fine anyone who doesn't comply," among others, are some of the complaints that could be read in the DGT publication.
