Charles Leclerc dominates the first free practice in Mexico

Ferrari 's Monegasque driver, Charles Leclerc , showed the progress of his car during the first free practice session of the 2025 Mexican Grand Prix , by recording a 1:18.380 with the soft compounds.

Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli, meanwhile, ran on the hard compound and recorded a time of 1:18.487. Nico Hülkenberg took third place in this first session with a time of 1:18.760 on hard tires.

Oscar Piastri, leader of the Formula 1 (F1) championship, drove with the same compound as Leclerc and finished with a time of 1:18.784, although he looked uncomfortable on the track, with several errors, especially when taking the curves.

Mexican Patricio O'Ward finished his participation in the Mexican Grand Prix with a time of 1:19.680 and, Without a doubt, he was the great entertainer of the day for the local fans, who showed up wearing McLaren shirts, flags and images alluding to the Monterrey native.

Of the drivers involved in the championship fight, the only one who drove was Piastri. Max Verstappen was replaced for this session by Arvid Lindblad, while Lando Norris' place was taken by Mexican Pato O'Ward.

The session took place at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez , which had a good turnout for the first day of activities, with fans who cheered on their favorite drivers.

The next session will begin at 4:00 p.m. and can be viewed on Televisa's Channel 5.
