Volkswagen presents the new T-Roc for the first time in Barcelona: larger and with a bigger trunk, it features technologies typical of superior cars.

Since its launch in 2017, the T-Roc has established itself as a benchmark in its SUV segment, with more than two million units sold in Europe. It has also become a cornerstone of the Volkswagen range: it is the brand's best-selling model in Europe and Spain, where more than 100,000 customers drive it on our roads every day.

Specifically, some of the firm's clients who had expressed interest in the new generation of the T-Roc, along with the specialized press, were the first to see and learn about the first unit in Spain, arriving directly from Germany, at an event organized by the brand this week.

The unveiling of the new T-Roc in Barcelona allowed us to experience first-hand some of the new features of this second generation, developed entirely from the ground up. VW's best-seller evolves with a more expressive design—in line with what we've seen in the brand's latest launches, with notable similarities to the electric ID series—and with new exterior dimensions that provide a significant increase in both interior and trunk space, in addition to new assistance systems and technologies inherited from higher segments.

It is available in a total of six paint finishes: white, yellow, grey, blue, midnight black and red; all colours can be customised with a black roof.

It has grown by 122 mm compared to its predecessor, offering a more spacious cabin, while the trunk has a capacity of 475 liters (30 liters more than the current one), expandable to 1,350 liters with the seats folded down. Its new design language combines a muscular body with clean, modern lines, while the aerodynamic coefficient has improved by 10% (from 0.34 to 0.29 Cx), consequently reducing fuel consumption and interior noise.

The exterior features IQ.LIGHT Matrix LED headlights (standard on the R-Line), new 3D rear lights with illuminated crossbars, and backlit Volkswagen logos, giving it an unmistakable light signature day and night. It also features a higher, straighter hood and a more pronounced roofline, giving it a more coupé-like appearance.

The dashboard incorporates two large screens, one for the instrument panel and the other for the infotainment system.

The new interior features higher-quality materials and a completely revamped driving position, featuring VW's Infotainment 4.0 system, which includes a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit instrument panel and a 12.9-inch touchscreen with IDA natural voice control.

In addition, the new T-Roc implements technologies from higher segments and advances that until now were only present in Volkswagen's high-end range, such as the Head-Up Display projected onto the windshield (a first in its segment); Area View 360º, with four high-definition cameras for complete peripheral vision; Driving Experience Control, with an OLED rotary dial for selecting driving modes or controlling the interior environment; wireless App-Connect and inductive charging for smartphones.

The second generation of the T-Roc, the successor to one of the brand's most successful models, also arrives with more sustainable and efficient powertrains (up to 10% less fuel consumption). The entire range starts with 48V eTSI mild hybrid engines with an ECO label, available in two power outputs: 116 hp and 150 hp, both with a 7-speed DSG transmission. A 170 hp HEV (full hybrid) version will be added in the coming months.

The trunk has an initial load capacity of 475 liters, which can be expanded by folding down the rear seat backrest.

The new T-Roc's range of trim levels is divided into three, each with its own unique approach: T-Roc, Plus, and R-Line. The base model offers a balanced offering in terms of design, comfort, and safety, while the mid-range model adds a touch of exclusivity. Finally, the top model emphasizes the T-Roc's sporty character, with features such as 19-inch wheels, heated front sport seats, a heated multifunction sports steering wheel, and fully automatic parking functions, among other features.

Two limited launch editions will also be available: the Launch Edition (400 units) with the 116 hp 1.5 eTSI engine; and the 1st Edition (600 units) with the 150 hp 1.5 eTSI engine. Based on the R-Line, this exclusive top-of-the-range trim boasts a sporty aesthetic thanks to the "Black Style" package with 20-inch wheels. It also includes the full technology package, including the "Discover" navigation system and head-up display.

The range is completed by the sporty R-Line trim, which starts at €42,400, while the top of the range is the exclusive 1st Edition launch model, priced at €44,090, also without any discounts.
