Volkswagen plans hybrid SUV for South America

Volkswagen has confirmed that it will manufacture a conventional hybrid SUV (HEV) in South America. The announcement came from global CEO Thomas Schäfer and was reported by the Autocar website. The model in question is the T-Roc.
The automaker has never used this system in a production car. It's worth noting that the introduction of this type of powertrain occurred less than a decade before the company adopted an all-electric model in Europe.

Schäfer stressed that VW is experimenting with the system because certain regions are moving to HEVs, such as South America and China.
