Peugeot has confirmed the arrival of the 208 and 2008 models with flex-fuel hybrid engines in the Brazilian market next month. The technology, called Bio-Hybrid, was developed by Stellantis' South American team.
The system will be manufactured by the automaker at its Betim Automotive Complex in Minas Gerais. Recently expanded, the plant has a production capacity of 1.1 million engines per year. The powertrain changes for Stellantis models are part of a R$32 billion investment planned between 2025 and 2030.

The hybrid powertrain that will be introduced in Peugeot models is similar to that of the Pulse and Fastback. The Bio-Hybrid has an electrical device that replaces the alternator and starter motor.
The mild hybrid system is capable of supplying both mechanical and electrical power, which both generates additional torque for the vehicle's internal combustion engine and generates electrical energy to charge the additional 12-volt lithium-ion battery, which operates in parallel with the vehicle's conventional electrical system. The system generates power of up to 3 kW to optimize vehicle performance and reduce fuel consumption.
