Moto2: Daniel Holgado wins pole at the San Marino GP

In a quiet qualifying session held on Saturday morning (13), Daniel Holgado took pole position at the San Marino GP. This is the Spaniard's second of the season, repeating his feat from the last stage, the Catalan GP. Celestino Vietti and Manuel Gonzalez complete the front row.
How was Q1?Q1 was marked by a controlled pace, with Tony Arbolino leading for much of the session, which was uneventful until the final minutes, when Darryn Binder lost control in sector three and crashed. The South African driver was currently in ninth place, five points away from the qualifying zone for Q2.
In the battle for the top spot, Tony was the standout. The Italian qualified with a time of 1:34.530. Aron Canet, looking to bounce back after failing to qualify directly, was 0.191 seconds behind Arbolino. Dani Muñoz and Ayumu Sasaki completed the top four qualifying for Q2.
Battle for pole position in Q2Q2 started smoothly, with Diogo Moreira leading. Without many incidents or lead changes, Tony Arbolino led much of the session, just as he did in Q1, setting a new fastest lap record with a time of 1:34.420.
With five minutes remaining, the drivers returned to the track to improve their laps. Dani Holgado took the lead, followed by Manuel Gonzalez and Aron Canet, who had been inconspicuous throughout the session. With two minutes remaining, Van den Goorbergh crashed, leaving him in last place. With just a few seconds remaining, Dixon also crashed.
In the final minutes, Daniel Holgado clocked a time of 1:34.216, reinforcing his good form. The Spaniard secured his second consecutive pole position, also setting the new fastest time on the track. Celestino Vietti, who set the fastest time in qualifying, and championship leader Manuel González complete the front row. Diogo Moreira will start on the second row, in sixth place, alongside Aron Canet. The Brazilian is four points behind the Spaniard, who is currently second in the championship.
Moto2 returns to the track on Sunday (14), at 7:15 am (Brasília time) for the race. The session will be broadcast on ESPN4 and Disney+.
