Ethanol competitiveness

Ethanol proved more competitive than gasoline in four states during the week of September 14-20. At the average gas stations surveyed nationwide, the fuel had a 69.19% parity with gasoline during the period, thus favoring the petroleum derivative, according to a survey by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) compiled by AE-Taxas. Industry executives note that ethanol can be competitive even with a parity greater than 70%, depending on the vehicle in which the biofuel is used.

Ethanol is more competitive compared to gasoline in the following states: Mato Grosso (68.57%); Mato Grosso do Sul (65.60%); Paraná (68.21%), and São Paulo (67.55%).
