Opel brings the best of its history to Zaragoza

Opel brings the best of its history to Zaragoza

For the first time in history, a collection of more than 20 Opel models has left the Rüsselsheim Museum in Germany for Zaragoza so the public can enjoy and learn about the industrial history of this popular brand.

From an 1870 sewing machine made by founder Adam Opel to the more futuristic prototype, the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo 7 , which comes with a video game version included.

For Opel enthusiasts, car fans, and even industry enthusiasts, design lovers, and history buffs, the German manufacturer's selection of the best of the best is on display in the luxury Zaha Hadid Bridge Pavilion at Mobility City until next March.

Among the exhibits are gems such as the Patent-Motorwagen Lutzmann, Opel's first automobile from 1899 and probably the only original model still preserved in the world.

The exhibition invites you to travel through more than a century of engineering and creativity, with emblematic models such as the Doktorwagen , which democratized the use of the automobile, the popular Laubfrosch, known as the tree frog for its green color and for being the first car mass-produced by the brand, or the elegant Admiral from 1939 .

There is no shortage of more recent milestones, such as the OSV 40, a symbol of Opel's commitment to safety in the 1970s, or the legendary Corsa , manufactured in Zaragoza since 1982, which has become an international icon with more than 14 million units produced .

Less well-known, but equally interesting, are some prototypes that were designed for the model produced at the Figueruelas plant, such as the Scamp 2 or the Maxx 1995 , two cars that anticipated new forms of urban and sustainable mobility.

"The Corsa was the model that made small cars democratized for everyone, and with German engineering," said Antonio Cobo, curator of Opel Love and former director of the Zaragoza plant, at the exhibition presentation.

The journey through Opel in Mobility City ends in the current century with the futuristic , environmentally friendly 2011 RAKe, whose design has been carried over largely unchanged into the series production Mokka.

The latest model on display is the Manta GSe ElektroMOD , the first restomod, a classic car that has been restored and modernized with modern parts and technology . It was Opel's electric car, zero emissions , and reinterpreted with modern features both inside and out.

The star of the exhibition is the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo prototype, which was presented last September at the Munich Motor Show and shows the design that the German manufacturer wants to give to its models of tomorrow , as reported by Rosa Caniego , Director of Communications at Stellantis Spain.

This concept car is the first that the lightning bolt brand has developed for both the real and digital world , with the legendary GSE surname.
