Polestar 5, the 884 hp, four-door electric super grand tourer. All the latest news

MONACO – From vision to reality. Five years after the Precept concept, Polestar officially unveiled the Polestar 5, its new four-door electric grand tourer, at the IAA Mobility in Munich: a nearly five-meter vehicle that combines pure Scandinavian lines, an innovative platform, sustainable materials, and supercar performance.
Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller, presenting the new model at a party at Munich's Hoch5, had no doubts: "The Polestar 5 is our flagship, a car that brings the future into the present. It is the realization of our vision of design, technology, and sustainability."
Scandinavian designAesthetically, the car's lines are very clean and essential. The 5 faithfully echoes the shapes of the Precept concept with the aerodynamic silhouette of a four-door coupé. The front integrates the SmartZone with sensors and radar, flanked by "double-blade" headlights with Pixel LED technology. The panoramic glass roof – over two meters long – illuminates a very sleek cabin, with plenty of headroom even for rear passengers: a solution made possible, as on the Polestar 4, by moving the roof rearward, eliminating the rear window, and adopting a digital rearview mirror for easier maneuvering.

At the rear, a light bar that seamlessly merges with the vertical headlights with air intakes and the striking diffuser underline the sporty character of the car, which boasts a drag coefficient of just 0.24, a record value for a GT of this size.
Sustainable and technological interiorsInside, the Polestar 5 offers a 4+1 cabin with Recaro seats that combine sporty posture and comfort. Upholstery ranges from MicroTech to certified Nappa leather. Great attention has been paid to circular materials: flax fibers, Econyl recycled from fishing nets, PET for the headliner, and bio-based plastics that reduce weight and CO₂.

The on-board experience is premium: 14.5-inch vertical display with Android Automotive operating system and integrated Google services, 9.5-inch head-up display, optional 21-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system with 1,680 Watts.
Exclusive platformUnderpinning it all is the Polestar Performance Architecture, a custom-developed aluminum chassis that's stiffer than many supercars. The 112 kWh, 800-volt NMC battery is integrated into the structure, ensuring safety and efficiency.
Suspension varies: passive with internal springs for the Dual Motor version, or adaptive MagneRide for the Performance, capable of reading the road a thousand times a second. The brakes are by Brembo with lightweight discs, while Michelin tires go up to 22 inches.
Supercar performanceThe heart of the car is the in-house developed rear-mounted engine. The Polestar 5 Performance delivers a total output of 650 kW (884 hp) and 1,015 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.2 seconds. The Dual Motor delivers 550 kW (748 hp), allowing for 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.9 seconds. The top speed for both versions is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

The claimed range is up to 670 km in the WLTP cycle for the Dual Motor model and up to 565 km for the Performance model. And with ultra-fast charging at 350 kW, charging the battery from 10 to 80% takes just 22 minutes.
Prices and availabilityOrders are already open, and prices are supercar-like: the Polestar 5 Dual Motor starts at €119,800, while the Performance starts at €144,800. Six colors are available, including the new matte Storm and Magnesium finishes.
Lutz Stiegler, CTO of the brand, summed up the spirit of the project as follows: “With its new architecture and an engine developed in-house, Polestar 5 is a complete GT, designed to excite and lead the industry towards a sustainable future.”
