Ferrari unveils the 849 Testarossa, a legendary name for the new 1,050 hp super hybrid.

MILAN – The Ferrari 849 Testarossa: a legendary name that marks the evolution of the hybrid era in Maranello returns. Unveiled as a world premiere in Milan alongside the open-top Spider (with a roof that opens in 14 seconds, even on the move), the successor to the SF90 Stradale raises the bar in every area, starting with its extensively refined plug-in hybrid powertrain. The architecture with three electric motors and a mid-rear twin-turbo V8 remains, but the internal combustion engine has been completely revamped, as has the regeneration logic—now smoother and more efficient—and the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The 3,990 cm³ V8 delivers 830 hp at 7,500 rpm and 842 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, with the rev limit set at 8,300 rpm. The support of 220 hp from the electric motors brings the system power to 1,050 hp and torque to a staggering 10,250 Nm, for hypercar-like performance. The 7.45 kWh lithium battery provides 25 km of zero-emission range, with a top speed of 130 km/h, while the e4WD intelligent all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring on the front motors maximizes traction and engagement.

Work on the turbochargers (the largest ever installed on a Ferrari road car, with low-friction bearings), larger intercoolers derived from the F80 and an Inconel exhaust (a nickel superalloy used in the aeronautical sector, ed.) have reduced turbo lag to practically zero and given a fuller, more engaging sound signature, with new “racing” gear shift strategies under acceleration.
The performancesThe numbers speak for themselves: 0-100 km/h in 2.25 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 6.3 seconds, over 330 km/h, stopping from 100 km/h in 28.5 meters, and a Fiorano lap time of 1'17"500 (- 1.2 seconds compared to the outgoing model). With the same dry weight (1,570 kg) but with an additional 50 hp, the power-to-weight ratio is significantly improved. Weight distribution remains 45/55 (front/rear) and the center of gravity is lower thanks to the integration of the battery.
The chassis and aerodynamicsThe chassis and dynamics make a generational leap: a dedicated suspension setup reduces body roll by 10%, specific race-inspired tires (sizes 265/35 R20 and 325/30 R20), a completely redesigned brake-by-wire braking system with larger discs and calipers, optimized ventilation channels and the new ABS Evo; the predictive FIVE (Ferrari Integrated Vehicle Estimator) system creates a "digital twin" of the vehicle and, thanks to self-learning, adapts traction, differential, e4WD and brake modulation controls in real time, expanding the driver's "comfort zone" even at extreme speeds.

In short, you can go really fast and safely even if you're not an expert driver. The aerodynamics combine functionality and historical references: 415 kg of downforce at 250 km/h (25 kg more than the SF90), tailpieces inspired by the 512 S – a racing sports prototype from the 1970s – with two fixed twin-tail rear spoilers and an additional active spoiler; plus, a redesigned front underbody (35% of downforce), a multi-level rear end, and improved thermal management (+15% dissipation capacity).
The designThe design, penned by Flavio Manzoni, introduces new aluminum alloy doors: created through 3D modeling and hot stamping, they combine form and function, acting as actual ducts for the intercooler and, consequently, improving the cooling of the air exiting the turbochargers. On the side, the vertical black element—customizable, like everything else, with the Tailor Made program—creates a "three-dimensional livery" that streamlines the silhouette. The more architectural front emphasizes width with a horizontal band connecting the headlights; at the rear, sculpted volumes, a full-width diffuser, and double round exhaust pipes reaffirm the Prancing Horse's identity.
The interiorsThis identity is also found in the passenger compartment, with its horizontal layout and clear separation of "roles": a wraparound cockpit-style driving area, a new steering wheel with a return to physical buttons (including the iconic start), an updated interface with eManettino for the four electric modes (eDrive, Hybrid, Performance, Qualify), a reconfigurable digital cluster, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity with wireless charging. Comfort or racing seats in carbon fiber, premium materials, and craftsmanship are also featured.

All this without neglecting sustainability, with the use of secondary recycled aluminium alloys for heads and crankcases (up to -80% CO₂/kg of aluminium).
The Fiorano Assetto
But that's not all: for those seeking the ultimate, the Assetto Fiorano reduces weight by approximately 30 kg thanks to the extensive use of ultra-lightweight composite components such as carbon fiber (also present on the wheels). Dedicated suspension, an aerokit with a more extreme splitter, and high-downforce rear twin wings maximize efficiency between the curbs.
The pricesDue in the second quarter of 2026, the 849 Testarossa has a starting price of €460,000, rising to €512,500 with the Assetto Fiorano option (an additional €52,500). The Spider version, however, will be delivered starting in the third quarter of 2026: starting at €500,000, with the option of adding the Assetto Fiorano (€552,500 total). The seven-year maintenance programs and Power Hybrid warranty extensions, which include powertrain components and the high-voltage traction battery, have been confirmed.
