IAA Munich 2025: Kia relaunches with EV5 and EV9 GT for Europe

It represents much more than a showcase for automotive brands: it's a turning point for those who want to tell the future of four-wheeled vehicles. In this scenario, Kia chooses to return with a commanding presence, aware that Europe is now the decisive stage in the race towards electrification.
The Korean brand is bringing its full range of electric vehicles to Munich with the "Windows of Inspiration" exhibition concept, an open-air installation that aims not only to showcase models but also to evoke emotion. The mirrored pillars that frame the stand play with visitors' perceptions, creating a dynamic environment where the boundaries between technology and reality blur. This reflects the "Opposites United" philosophy that has guided Kia design for years, combining opposites such as nature and technology, reason and emotion, functionality and beauty.
Starting September 9th, at the heart of the Open Space, visitors will be able to enjoy an immersive experience and test drive some of the flagship models of the electric range. This isn't just a static exhibition, but a direct dialogue with those who want to experience the mobility of the future.
The announced protagonist is the Kia EV5, a 100% electric C-SUV destined to play a leading role in Europe, the most competitive and rapidly growing market for battery-powered vehicles. With a range of up to 530 km and rapid charging times of just 30 minutes, the EV5 is positioned as a practical solution for those seeking a balance between everyday practicality and advanced technology. Completing the package are features such as Vehicle-to-Load, which allows the vehicle to power external devices, and a towing capacity of up to 1,200 kg, elements that confirm Kia's ambition: to make electric vehicles not only desirable, but also versatile.
The focus then shifts to the EV2 Concept, a compact crossover that, after its appearances in Milan and at Kia EV Day, is finally making its European debut. Its bold, urban design, characterized by vertical daytime running lights and "Star Map" styling, previews a new generation of models that will hit the roads as early as next year. It demonstrates that the future of electric vehicles isn't just about flagships, but also about accessible offerings for younger, more dynamic segments.
The Kia EV3, on the other hand, embodies the best of the innovation derived from the flagship EV9, packaged in a compact format. With a range of 605 km and competitive charging times, it aims to redefine the concept of an urban electric SUV, without sacrificing a spacious and practical interior. Meanwhile, the EV4 expands the C-segment offering with hatchback styling and performance of up to 625 km of range, bringing further depth to a range designed to meet diverse needs.
There's no shortage of thrills. The New EV6 GT raises the performance bar even further: 650 horsepower, a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.5 seconds, yet with the versatility needed to tackle everyday life. Alongside it, the EV9 GT demonstrates how an electric SUV can combine luxury, space, and dynamism, with 508 horsepower and ride comfort guaranteed by electronic suspension. Electric, in short, is no longer just synonymous with efficiency, but also with adrenaline.
The real surprise, however, is perhaps the PV5. With this modular light commercial vehicle, Kia is entering a new segment that goes far beyond traditional automotive. Sixteen possible configurations make it suitable for both passenger and cargo transport, opening up unprecedented possibilities in the electric LCV market, which is still in its infancy but is set to grow rapidly.
"Our return to Munich is a milestone," said Charles Ryu, Head of Global Brand & Customer Experience. "We want to consolidate our image as a leading electric mobility brand and continue to make electric vehicles accessible to an ever-wider audience."
In a Europe where electric car registrations are growing month after month, the IAA Motor Show represents the perfect opportunity to reiterate ambitions and strategies. Kia presents not only a comprehensive lineup, but also a clear vision: to transform electrification into an everyday experience, close to people, capable of inspiring and adapting to different lifestyles.
Visitors to the Open Space at Ludwigstraße 22 between September 9th and 14th will not simply find cars on display, but will also delve into a narrative that combines sustainability, design, and innovation. A narrative that will likely mark a new phase in Kia's journey in Europe and globally.
