Hyundai goes all-electric: here's the Concept Three, the small Ioniq.

MONACO – Hyundai unveiled the Concept Three as a world premiere at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich: a fully electric prototype that previews the Korean manufacturer's first B-segment vehicle, produced under the Ioniq sub-brand, expected on the roads next year. This model is highly strategic for the European market, where demand for compact EVs is growing, driven by environmental regulations favoring the use of zero-emission vehicles and the growing need for space-saving vehicles in cities.
In addition to its unprecedented positioning, the Concept Three also ushers in a new design language for the brand called "Art of Steel." This philosophy leverages the strength and flexibility of steel—the production of which is part of Hyundai's core business—to create fluid forms and precise lines, evoking timeless beauty and powerful visual emotion.

The body of the Concept Three, sculpted across three main surfaces, is characterized by the "Aero Hatch" profile, which combines aerodynamic efficiency, a compact silhouette, and a practical vertical tailgate. It is then enhanced with Parametric Pixels (pixel-based light signatures) that create a gradient effect, lending depth and rhythm to the front and rear views of the vehicle. The anodized finish also evokes the premium essence of the "Art of Steel" on the vehicle, emphasizing its exclusive tone with features such as "lemon"-tinted windows and color-matched wheels that convey aesthetic originality from first glance.

Inside, the model reaffirms its eco-friendly nature. Characterized by soft volumes and yellow and gray tones, the onboard lounge is designed to offer a warm, intuitive, and relaxing atmosphere. Personalization is at the heart of the experience, thanks to the "Bring Your Own Lifestyle (BYOL)" modules, widgets that allow each customer to adapt spaces and features to their travel needs.
Another distinctive element of the Concept Three is the presence of "Mr. Pix," a stylized character found in hidden, interactive details throughout the cabin. Designed to spark curiosity and joy, the designers say, creating an emotional connection between passengers and the car through pure storytelling. Sustainability is also reflected in the choice of innovative materials, including fabrics made from ocean waste, recycled plastic, and lightweight expanded aluminum, which reduce environmental impact while maintaining a high level of perceived quality and comfort.

"Designing Concept Three gave us the opportunity to rethink what a compact electric vehicle is from the ground up," said Simon Loasby, Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center. "We defined the Aero Hatch category to create a profile characterized by a sense of fluidity, like a sculpture with harmonious proportions."
