Aston Martin Does Not Just Make Supercars But Also Luxury Residences: Here's the First in Japan

ROME - After The Residences in Miami and The Astera Interiors on Al Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah, Aston Martin continues its exclusive program of customized residential projects with the launch of its first ultra-luxury residence in Asia. The iconic sports luxury automotive brand has just completed “N°001 Minami Aoyama” in Tokyo, a four-story private residence located in the sought-after Omotesand? neighborhood and created in collaboration with luxury real estate developer Vibroa Inc. The new urban home was designed by Aston Martin’s design team, led by executive vice president and cco, Marek Reichman. Arranged over three floors above the large basement level, the house boasts a total floor area of 724 square meters and has been designed to offer a refuge from the city between space, time and privacy.
N°001 Minami Aoyama presents a striking architectural facade facing the public space, with a series of vertically aligned metal slats that together change throughout the day as light plays on the reflective surfaces, creating dynamism while also providing privacy. These beveled metal slats offer a partial glimpse of interior details, including the undulating mirrored ceilings and the ornamental plants custom-made for the wellness terrace on the first floor. “Throughout the design and construction of N°001 Minami Aoyama, we have worked closely with Vibroa to celebrate the influence of Tokyo’s culture, history and style,” explained Marek Reichman. “For Aston Martin, design is about more than automotive inspiration. I notice that our team considers references from architecture, fashion and even cuisine when developing their work. The clean lines, seamless boundaries and expansive views allow residents to experience and connect with this unique place. Inside, we have indulged the senses, using a holistic combination of elements and materials to create a calm and relaxing space to escape to.”

To maximize the available space, Vibroa excavated a large underground area to take advantage of the sloping terrain, creating a gym, a wine cellar, a space dedicated to a golf simulation system, a private spa and three bedrooms with bathrooms. One of the highlights of the project is the car gallery, a display space with two private parking spaces, on the ground floor of the residence that can showcase two vehicles as works of art, with adaptive lighting and a metal ceiling with a wavy finish. The cars are protected from view from the street, but visible from the interior thanks to a special glass panel, from the living room and the meeting room on the ground floor. The top floor instead stands out for its extraordinary terrace with various spaces for entertainment: a kitchen area, expansive mountain views and a section of planted green roof. The internal path is enhanced by a spectacular sculptural staircase in Damascus steel, shaped to create the effect of an origami staircase.
Aston Martin and Vibroa have carefully selected high-end Italian furnishings, including bespoke wardrobes and kitchen furniture from specialist Molteni&C.
The project for Asia’s first bespoke private residence is a strong symbol of Aston Martin’s continued expansion into Japan and the Asian market, and follows the opening of its showroom at The Peninsula Tokyo hotel in spring 2024.
