Alpine A523 returns to action at Goodwood 2025 with Kush Maini and Paul Aron at the wheel

And it is precisely on this unique stage that Alpine has chosen to bring back its A523, the single-seater that finished fifth in the 2023 FIA Formula 1 World Constructors' Championship, with Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly protagonists of memorable podiums in Monaco and Zandvoort. This year, however, two young talents of the future will get into the car: Kush Maini and Paul Aron, promising drivers and faces of tomorrow for the French team.
As part of the celebrations for 70 years of Alpine and 75 years of Formula 1, Alpine will be present at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025 with a line-up that blends glorious tradition and modern ambition. On Thursday 10 July, it will be the turn of Indian Kush Maini, a member of the Alpine Academy since 2023 and currently competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, to take the wheel of the A523. The single-seater will open the Alpine celebratory procession, flanked by icons such as the A110 Berlinette, the extreme A110 R, the A290 sports city car, the new A390 and the visionary Alpenglow, a concept car that previews the brand's green and high-performance future.
From Friday 11th to Sunday 13th July, it will be Paul Aron, Estonian born in 2004 and Alpine reserve driver since 2024, who will fly the blue and pink colours of the team on the most famous hill in British motorsport. For both, it is a special occasion: sharing the stage with legendary teams, dream cars and above all thousands of fans who flock to Goodwood every year to experience the magic of motorsport up close, including hill climbs, exhibitions and moments of direct contact with the protagonists.
The A523, despite no longer being in the world championship, still has a lot to tell. Not only for its performance – a single-seater that was able to fight in the points zone and score three podiums in a competitive championship – but for what it represents: the meeting point between French engineering tradition and Alpine's modern ambition in the global racing scene. With its 2025 livery, which features the classic blue and pink tones, it will be the highlight of the Alpine paddock and will put on a show along the time trial in front of an audience of enthusiasts of all ages.
But Alpine's presence at Goodwood will not be limited to the track. The team will have a double presence: in the Formula 1 pit lane, where it will be possible to observe the operations on the vehicles up close, and in a completely dedicated area inside the Alpine paddock. Here, in addition to meeting Kush and Paul, visitors will be able to try their hand at professional driving simulators from the Alpine Sim Racing program, test their reflexes and try to beat the times recorded by the official drivers. All accompanied by a DJ set, live music and a party atmosphere that perfectly reflects the spirit of the Festival of Speed.
Further enriching the experience will be a static display of models from the Alpine range, including the long-awaited 280-horsepower Ypsilon HF, and some of the legends of the past, such as the original A110 and even the very rare A442B Le Mans. A perfect mix of past, present and future that tells how Alpine is deeply rooted in motorsport culture, but also ready to write new pages with a renewed generation of drivers.
The words of the protagonists leave little room for doubt about the emotion that accompanies them. “After my first time at Goodwood last year,” says Kush Maini, “it is a real pleasure to return to celebrate 75 years of Formula 1 and 70 years of Alpine. Getting behind the wheel of the A523 will be a special feeling. Last year I drove the E20, but this time it will be even more exciting.” Paul Aron, at his first time at the famous British event, does not hide his enthusiasm: “It will be incredible to experience the Goodwood Festival of Speed with BWT Alpine F1 Team. I love the history of motorsport and I can't wait to admire all the cars present. And above all, it will be a privilege to drive the A523 on such an iconic hill climb.”
For Alpine, the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed is more than a celebratory appearance. It is a statement of intent, a commitment to celebrating its heritage while looking forward. With two young talents at the wheel and the support of a growing community of enthusiasts, the A523 is set to make its mark once again.
