Tindaya Showcar: Cupra's vision of the future

Tindaya Showcar: Cupra's vision of the future

The Spanish brand Cupra surprised everyone at the Munich Motor Show (IAA Mobility) with the unveiling of the Tindaya showcar, a prototype that not only previews the brand's future design language but also reaffirms a radical vision for mobility: "No drivers, no Cupra."

With this concept, the brand is distancing itself from autonomous driving trends to focus on the emotional connection behind the wheel. "The Tindaya showcar is not a dream, not even an ambition. It's our statement of intent as a brand, and it's going to become a reality," said Markus Haupt, the company's interim CEO.

The Tindaya's design pays homage to the volcanic mountain in Fuerteventura that gives it its name. Its exterior features a "black mask" brought to life by a light signature in the form of three triangles, mimicking a living breath that extends from the front to the sides. The "shark" nose, sharp sculpted lines, and fastback silhouette, along with its large 23-inch wheels, give the prototype an athletic and robust character, with a design that evokes the power of nature.

The Tindaya's interior has been conceived as a "totally driver-centric architecture." The cockpit is defined by the "Driver Axis," a dashboard that frames a 24-inch screen. However, the most revolutionary element is "The Jewel," a glass prism that acts as a sensory interface for the driver. This "phygital" object—which merges the physical and the digital—allows the driver to activate the vehicle, adjust driving modes, and transform the interior environment through light, sound, and tactile sensations.

The 2+2 cabin offers an immersive experience enhanced by a high-fidelity sound system developed in collaboration with Sennheiser Mobility. The seats, featuring a next-generation design, are manufactured with innovative 3D fabric technology that uses 100% recycled material and eliminates cutting and sewing waste.

The Tindaya offers three selectable driving modes that adapt the experience to the driver's needs: "Pure Driving," which eliminates distractions for a complete connection with the car; "Exciting Performance," which displays high-performance data such as G-forces; and "Tribe Experience," which offers personalized AI-based recommendations and connects the user to the Cupra community.

With the Tindaya, the brand reinforces its DNA, opting for a vehicle with a muscular and technological design, where the excitement and pleasure of driving are always paramount.
