BMW iX3 without everything: This is what the basic version looks like

As usual, BMW always presents its new models in the sporty M design, meaning they come with the M Sport package and a full range of accessories. This is also the case with the new iX3. But not every buyer wants that. For many, the base version is also interesting, as it allows them to at least somewhat manage the rather hefty prices. We took a look at the "bare" iX3 and were pleasantly surprised.
Externally, the base version stands out with its unpainted plastic aprons at the front and rear. The drag coefficient remains at an exemplary Cd value of 0.24—identical to the M Sport variant—which demonstrates that BMW is focusing on efficiency rather than show.
Under the hood is the modern, sixth-generation eDrive system based on a 108.7 kWh battery with an 800-volt architecture. WLTP range: up to 805 km, plus a potential additional 372 km of charging in just 10 minutes at 400 kW charging stations. Learn more in our detailed presentation .
Inside, the "Essential" package—the base variant—offers standard features such as electrically adjustable, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, Comfort Access, a remote trunk lid, wireless charging, and an alarm system. The accompanying material concept features Econeer seat covers made from recycled PET yarn—thematically matching the CO₂ footprint, which has been reduced by around a third compared to the previous model.

Digitally, the iX3 remains at the cutting edge: iDrive X with a 17.9-inch touchscreen and the new Panoramic Vision Display are standard. A 3D head-up display is available as an option. Added to this are bidirectional charging (V2L/V2H), 400 kW DC charging capability, and the new "Heart of Joy" computer architecture, which controls all driving dynamics functions in real time. The iX3 comes standard with 20-inch star-spoke 1045 alloy wheels. Aerodynamic wheels are also available as an option – for €600 – which enable the maximum WLTP range of 805 km. The loss with the standard wheels is just 11 km.
The iX3 also proves pragmatic in terms of utility: With a cargo volume of 520 to 1,750 liters, plus 58 liters of storage space in the frunk, it offers space for everyday use and travel. The standard paint finish is Alpine White; metallic colors are available for an additional charge.
Hot competitors of the iX3:
The base version of the iX3 is clearly structured, technically sophisticated, and without gimmicks. Those who consciously forgo any outwardly sporty exterior styling get a well-thought-out, modern electric SUV that prioritizes substance over show—efficient, connected, suitable for everyday use. And surprisingly fully equipped.
