Redcar Bears advance to BSN Series Final as SCB and Redcar issue statement!

Redcar Bears advance to BSN Series Final as SCB and Redcar issue statement!

Redcar Bears have advanced to the 2025 BSN Series Final following the abandonment of their semi-final second leg clash with the Glasgow Tigers at the ECCO Arena on Sunday, October 12.

The meeting was halted prior to Heat 15 after an incident in Heat 14, with the aggregate scores level at that point. As it was not possible to determine a winner on track, the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB) confirmed that the tie would be decided under Regulation 012.1.26 – Abandonment, which states:

“The team who scored the most heat advantages (5-0, 5-1, 4-2, 3-2, 3-0 in no particular order) over the two legs will be awarded the aggregate win.”

After reviewing both legs of the semi-final, the SCB confirmed the following breakdown of heat advantages:

  • Redcar: 8 x 4-2s (4 in the first leg, 4 in the second leg)

  • Glasgow: 1 x 5-1 and 6 x 4-2s (a 5-1 and 3 x 4-2s in the first leg, and 3 x 4-2s in the second leg)

This meant Redcar held one more heat advantage overall and were therefore declared winners of the tie, progressing to the BSN Series Final.

In their statement, the SCB added:

“There is no alternative with the scores level on aggregate at the time of the BSN Series semi-final being abandoned, and the result of the tie will have to be decided by SCB Regulation 012.1.26.

The SCB wishes all the people involved in the incident at Redcar during Heat 14 a speedy recovery.”

Incident and Response

During Heat 14, an incident occurred which saw a bike clear the safety fence and strike the secondary barrier beyond it. As a result, three supporters required medical attention from the on-site medical team.

Redcar Speedway later issued an update, confirming:

“Two supporters were taken to James Cook University Hospital for precautionary checks. We are pleased to confirm that both were discharged later that evening, and all three supporters are now safely at home with no serious injuries.

Redcar Speedway would like to extend our sincere thanks to the attending medical personnel from Medics UK and our dedicated volunteer staff for their prompt and professional response to the situation.”

Further details regarding the final and fixture arrangements will be confirmed by the Speedway Control Bureau in due course.

Dirt Hub wish everyone in the incident all the best, and we wish them a speedy recovery
