‘I’m a car expert - this is the most reliable used SUV for under £10k'

A motoring expert has claimed to have uncovered the “most reliable SUV” on the road for under £10,000. The TikTok channel @CapturingCars suggests the award should go to the stunning Hyundai Tucson.
The Tucson is among the best-selling Hyundai models ever produced, with over seven million sales since its original launch back in 2004. The latest Tucson certainly packs a punch for petrolheads with models producing between 147 and 261 bhp based on trim. The petrol and diesel Tucson also has an exemplary reliability rating, likely making it a safe pick for those on the market for a second-hand SUV.
Speaking on TikTok, they said: “It’s reliable enough. They’re a good car but the infotainment system on them is fantastic. Really easy to use, very well equipped. It’s a good-looking car, reliable, reasonably priced, plenty out there to choose from for under £10,000. A clear winner.”
@CapturingCars claimed the Tucson was almost identical to the Kia Sportage which was considered his number two pick.
However, he claimed the Tucson was a ”much better looking car” than the Kia which saw it just tip it above its South Korean rival. TikTok users were quick to praise the model, with some owners admitting they “loved” their Tucson machines.
@lilyratcliffe93 said: “Got a 2021 Tucson about a month ago and I genuinely love it more and more everyday.”
Another user added: “Had mine three years now, love it.”
Top-end Tucson models can reach 0-60 mph in just 7.6 seconds with a top speed of around 125mph. The model is also fuel efficient, with owners likely to enjoy between 39 and 50 miles per gallon.
Experts at What Car? have previously stressed the Hyundai Tucson was a dependable pick in a boost for buyers prioritising reliability over anything else.
They have previously said: “The Hyundai Tucson is a reliable car, according to our data.
“In the last What Car? Reliability Survey it appeared in, it ranked 12th out of 34 cars in the family SUV class. Its reliability score of 94.9% makes it more reliable than the rival Seat Ateca, but less reliable than the Lexus NX.
“The main trouble spots owners told us about related to non-engine electrics (a fault rate of 5.1%), followed by the battery, engine electrics and the exhaust (3.4% each).”
