Hamilton: 'I had a really hard time keeping the car on the track throughout the race'

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, the winningest driver at Silverstone, endured a difficult race in difficult weather conditions on Sunday.

Hamilton, who pushed his chances of a podium by getting close to Nico Hülkenberg in the final stages of the race, could not pass the Stake driver and had to settle for fourth place.

"I had a really hard time keeping the car on the track throughout the race," Hamilton said after the race.

"The tyres have lost a lot of performance. The car has become incredibly difficult to drive."

"But I learned a lot today. There are a lot of lessons to be learned. It's only the second time I've driven this car in the wet."

"I can't even tell you how difficult it is. This vehicle does not like these conditions at all."

"There's a lot of data to take from this race. The important thing for me is to sit down with that data and talk to the people who are designing next year's car, because some of the features that are in this car should definitely not be carried over to next year."
