Automotive industry exports $3.4 billion in June

According to the statement made by Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters' Association (OİB), June exports of the automotive industry, the leading sector of Türkiye's exports, reached 3 billion 408 million dollars with a 30 percent increase compared to the same month last year.
The automotive industry's exports in the January-June period increased by 13 percent compared to the same period last year and were recorded as 19 billion 987 million dollars.
While this figure was the highest export figure the automotive industry has ever achieved in June, the sector's share in total exports in June was 16.6 percent.
TRACTOR EXPORTS INCREASED BY 504 PERCENTThe June exports of the "supply industry", the largest product group in the sector's exports, increased by 13 percent to 1 billion 180 million dollars.
"Passenger car" exports increased by 16 percent in June to 1 billion 96 million dollars, "motor vehicles for the transport of goods" exports increased by 59 percent to 626 million dollars, "bus-minibus-midibus" exports increased by 66 percent to 293 million dollars and "tractor trucks" exports increased by a triple digit 504 percent compared to the same month last year to 180 million dollars.
GERMANY’S EXPORTS INCREASED BY 74 PERCENTIn June, exports to Germany, the sector's largest market, increased by 74 percent to $556 million.
While France became the second largest market with an export figure of 429 million dollars, automotive exports to this country increased by 36 percent compared to the previous year.
Exports to the United Kingdom, the third largest market, increased by 2 percent to $330 million.
There was an increase in exports to important markets, namely Belgium by 92 percent, Romania by 55 percent and Slovenia by 57 percent.
Exports to European Union countries, which are the largest market by country group and have a 74.2 percent share in automotive exports, increased by 42 percent in June, reaching 2 billion 527 million dollars.
Export increases of 11 percent to other European countries, 42 percent to the North American Free Trade Area, and 94 percent to other American countries were recorded.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of OIB, Baran Çelik, whose views were included in the statement, said, "The 3.4 billion dollars of exports we reached in June as the automotive industry is a historical June record for our sector. In the first half of the year, we demonstrated the global power of Turkish automotive once again with our export volume approaching 20 billion dollars. In June, a triple-digit increase was seen especially in tractor truck exports, while we achieved double-digit growth in all main product groups. The 74 percent increase in exports to Germany, 92 percent to Belgium, 55 percent to Romania and 57 percent to Slovenia also shows that we have increased our power in the European market."
