BYD has signed the contract for the factory! It will open at the end of the year.

Chinese automotive giant BYD is accelerating its investments in Europe. The company announced that it will begin production at the electric vehicle factory it is building in Hungary by the end of 2025.

BYD Vice President Stella Li said at the press conference held at the Munich Motor Show, “This investment shows that we are here to stay in Europe.”

The first model to be produced has been announced

The first vehicle to roll off the production line of the new factory will be the compact electric car Dolphin Surf.

The news is noteworthy because it follows a claim published by Reuters last July that "BYD may postpone production to 2026 and keep the factory's capacity at a low level for the first two years."
