Production of the new Nissan Qashqai has begun at the Sunderland plant in the United Kingdom. Originally launched in 2006, the model has already produced 4.5 million units.
In the refreshed version, the car features the new generation of the e-Power electric propulsion system. Propulsion is provided exclusively by an electric motor, while the 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine generates the necessary electricity.
In other words, driving is completely electric, with the advantages of instant response and the absence of a gearbox like a purely electric car, but without the need for charging.
In this latest version, the Nissan Qashqai boasts fuel consumption of 4.5 liters per 100 km, with a range of 1,200 km in the WLTP cycle. It emits 12 percent less carbon dioxide than the current version (102 grams per kilometer).
Sport mode now has an additional 11 kW of power. Acoustic comfort also improves, with a reduction of up to 5.6 decibels in cabin noise.
The powertrain delivers 151 kW of power, while the battery has a capacity of 2.1 kWh. Nissan promises an increase in service intervals from 15,000 to 20,000 km. Also noteworthy is the infotainment system with integrated Google.
Pricing and specific equipment specifications for the new Nissan Qashqai are not yet known. The brand is delaying the release of these details until the launch of the car, scheduled for the last quarter of the year in Portugal.
