Ford to invest US$40 million to manufacture more Rangers in Argentina

Ford announced an increase in investment in its Pacheco plant in Argentina to increase production and launch new versions of the Ranger in South America. The new investment, worth US$40 million, brings the total investment in the plant to US$700 million for the launch of the new generation of the pickup, which will take place in 2023.

The increased line speed will allow the plant to reach a production rate of over 80,000 units per year, representing a 30% increase compared to 2024 and 45% higher than the launch year, a historic record for Ranger production. Approximately 50% of the plant's production volume is destined for Brazil, the pickup's main market, followed by Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Paraguay, and Uruguay, respectively.

The investment is also intended for the introduction of new Ranger configurations, including the single cab and chassis versions, presented last year at Fenatran, to serve commercial customers seeking robustness, technology, greater load capacity and versatility in modifications to meet their business needs.

During this phase, the Pacheco factory in Argentina received new tools and intelligent robots in the stamping and bodywork areas to expand production, along with the creation of more than 150 new direct jobs, adding to the 160 employees incorporated at the beginning of the year.

For Martín Galdeano, president of Ford in South America, customer response exceeded the manufacturer's most optimistic expectations and is driving the company to take a further step toward meeting local and regional demand for the Ranger. The initial investment to manufacture the new generation of the pickup, about two years ago, was US$660 million, a figure that included the complete transformation of the plant and the construction of the engine plant (2.0-liter inline-four and 3.0-liter V6, both turbodiesel).

The Ranger grew by approximately 60% in 2024, totaling over 28,000 units sold during the period, breaking the model's record since its debut in the Brazilian market over 30 years ago. This year, it continued this trend, ending the first half of the year with 25% growth. Currently, it is the second-largest in the segment, trailing only the beloved Toyota Hilux.
