Formula E: Cupra Kiro announces Spanish Pepe Martí

With the growing interest of young talents in the electric category, this Tuesday morning (21) had another nice surprise for the next season. Spanish driver Josep Maria Martí was announced as the main driver of Cupra Kiro, alongside Dan Ticktum.
The 20-year-old, from Barcelona, Spain, joins CUPRA KIRO after two seasons in Formula 2, where he established himself as one of the most promising drivers in world motorsport.
Marti began his single-seater career in 2021, finishing third in the Spanish F4 Championship and runner-up in the Asian Formula Regional Championship, before moving into Formula 3 in 2022.
After achieving three wins and four podiums in his second season in F3, Pepe moved to Formula 2 in 2024 and has since achieved four wins and eight podiums.
Rumors of this market movement were already anticipated after reports that Arvid Lindblad, his teammate at Campos Racing, would be promoted to Formula 1, and that Alex Dunne, a leading contender for the F2 title, could sign with the Red Bull Junior Team. The decision demonstrates not only the growth of the electric category among drivers graduating from F2, but also an opportunity outside the F1 route.
By joining CUPRA KIRO, Marti will begin an immediate transition to Formula E and, as such, will become only the fifth Spanish driver to compete in the category, following in the footsteps of Jaime Alguersuari, Oriol Servia, Antonio Garcia, and Roberto Merhi. Marti will make his first appearance for CUPRA KIRO on home soil, taking part in Pre-Season Testing at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia next week.
"Welcoming Pepe to CUPRA KIRO marks an exciting new chapter for the team," adds Russell O'Hagan, Chief Operating Officer of CUPRA KIRO. "Despite being just 20 years old, Pepe has demonstrated exceptional levels of maturity, composure and intelligence, which, combined with his natural speed, marks him out as one of the greatest talents in modern motorsport."
"His decision to step away from Formula 2 and dedicate himself fully to our Formula E project is a true statement of intent and not only validates our vision as a team, but also demonstrates our belief in the future of the championship. His track record and drive align perfectly with our own goals, and together we are building something with long-term potential. I look forward to seeing how our journey together unfolds in Season 12."
Brazil opens the Formula E calendar on December 6th with the São Paulo ePrix, at the Anhembi Sambadrome.
