Alfa Romeo 'extends' the life of two models until 2027

Alfa Romeo 'extends' the life of two models until 2027

Alfa Romeo will keep the Giulia and Stelvio in its lineup for a while longer, until 2027. The models share the FCA Giorgio platform—which debuted precisely a decade ago with the Giulia. The Stelvio arrived two years later.

According to Motor1.com, given the later-than-planned arrival of the electric replacements, the Giulia will be produced for another two years, as will happen with the Stelvio .

Jules Tilstone, director of Alfa Romeo in the UK, told the publication Autocar that these models are suited to the current reality in that country: "People are looking for cars with combustion engines that are fun to drive, and the Giulia and Stelvio offer that in spades ."

The Giulia is a coupe, while the Stelvio is a five-door compact SUV. Both will remain available with a four-cylinder gasoline engine, and the Quadrifoglio performance versions with V6 engines will return, according to Jules Tilstone.

Alfa Romeo's plans were to have an all-electric lineup by 2027, but with demand for these vehicles growing much lower than expected, it had to change its strategy. Demand for sports models is also weak.

Automotive News Europe, citing CEO Santo Ficilli, writes that there will be no new models from the Italian brand of the Stellantis group until the end of 2027 .

In the first half of next year, Stellantis will announce a new strategic plan, which will cover Alfa Romeo and its future models.
