This is the location of the radars that issue the most fines on the A-7.

A few days ago, the European Motorists' Association (AEA) located the 50 fixed speed cameras operated by the Directorate General of Traffic that accumulated the most fines in 2024 . A year in which the number of fines increased by 4% compared to 2023, reaching 3,440,655 speeding tickets .
Within this figure, some highways, such as the A-7, which connects Algeciras with Barcelona along the Mediterranean coast, have up to two devices in the DGT's top 10 most frequently issued speed cameras, not including those located in Catalonia and the Basque Country.
Where are these A-7 radars located? The first of them is located at kilometer 968 in the direction of Algeciras , near Rincón de la Victoria (Málaga). This radar is characterized by being limited to 80 km/h and in 2024 alone it reached 67,502 complaints , which put it in second place in the ranking of the most sanctioning.
The next speed camera is located at km 978 towards Barcelona , near Málaga city. This device intercepted 33,358 vehicles during 2024.
Which radars issued the most fines on the A-7 in 2023?Interestingly, both devices mentioned above were also the most penalizing on the Mediterranean Highway. Specifically, the radar located at km 968 toward Algeciras intercepted up to 66,869 vehicles , which also put it in second place in the top 50. Meanwhile, the device located at km 978.9 toward Barcelona recorded 45,522 fines .
Furthermore, in 2023, two more speed cameras on the A-7 were placed in the DGT's top 50: one located at km 324 near Paterna (Valencia) with a total of 43,269 sanctions and another on a section located near Torrox (Málaga) at km 936.
What is the margin of error for radars?First, Order ICT/155/2020 differentiates the margin of error depending on whether the speed camera is more or less than one year old . If it has been installed for less than a year, the margin of error is ±3 km/h if the speed is less than 100 km/h and ±3% if the speed is greater than 100 km/h , in the case of fixed radars.
For fixed speed cameras, the margin increases to ±5 km/h if the speed is less than 100 km/h, and to ±5% for speeds above 100 km/h. Finally, both tables also indicate the margins of error for mobile speed cameras and the Pegasus helicopter in real-life traffic situations.
