The location of the DGT radar that issues the most fines on the A-45

The location of the DGT radar that issues the most fines on the A-45

At the beginning of July, the European Motorists' Association (AEA) presented the ranking of the 50 fixed or section speed cameras of the General Directorate of Traffic that intercepted the most speeding vehicles last year .

Among them, on the Córdoba to Málaga highway, known as the A-45, we find the fifth that filed the most complaints in all of Spain , with a total of 49,378 sanctions, which represents a sharp increase compared to the figure it imposed in 2023, when it "caught" 33,310, which represented an increase of 48.2% .

Where is this radar located on the A-45?

This section device is located between kilometers 126 and 128.8 in both directions of the Malaga highway, in the area of the Las Pedrizas tunnels , a few kilometers from reaching the capital of the Costa del Sol if you are coming from Córdoba.

This device is characterized by being limited to 80 km/h ( 50 mph) due to the succession of tunnels and curves on this section of the high-capacity highway. Furthermore, it's worth noting that the radar isn't the first in the province of Málaga in terms of the number of fines issued, as another one located on the A-7 has nearly 20,000 fines filed in 2024.

What other radars located in Malaga are in the ranking?

Interestingly, the province of Malaga has five facilities among the 50 most punishable , of which four are in the top 10. The one that issued the most fines is located at km 968 of the A-7 near Rincón de la Victoria , heading towards Algeciras, with 67,502 fines. This is followed by the one on the A-45, located in the Las Pedrizas tunnels.

In third place is another speed camera on the A-7, this time located at km 978 towards Barcelona , near Málaga city, which reported 33,358 drivers. The fourth is on the Málaga ring road (M-20) at km 10, with 33,061 fines . Finally, the fifth is located on the A-45, near Villanueva de Cauche (Antequera), and filed 14,360 fines in 2024.

How long does it take to receive a fine from a fixed radar?

If you drive through an area monitored by a fixed radar and it detects a violation, you should keep in mind that the notification with the fine amount and possible loss of points may take between one and three weeks to arrive at your home . Therefore, this is the approximate time it may take to find out if you have been fined.

Once you receive the notification, you'll have 20 calendar days to pay the fine with a 50% early payment discount, or to file a complaint if you don't agree with the fine.
