DGT H sticker: What does it mean and which cars can have it?

The Environmental badges are the hot topic in Spanish mobility, but you may have never seen or heard of this one. It's the H sticker, a decal that cars must display, depending on their age, if they want to travel within Low Emission Zones .
This label has been in place since 2023 and is mandatory for all vehicles classified by the DGT as historic, meaning they meet the requirements specified in the General Regulations for Historic Vehicles.
What does this H sticker indicate? On October 1 , Royal Decree 892/2024, of September 10 , came into force. This new Regulation for Historic Vehicles is approved, allowing this type of vehicle to operate within Low Emission Zones. To this end, reflective yellow labels with a black H in the center have been put on sale at tobacconists, post offices, and DGT points.
These badges are used to identify vehicles classified as historic. That is, those that are more than 30 years old since their first registration or manufacture and that have not been modified to alter their original character. This sticker will also apply to all Group A and Group B vehicles.
What groups of historic vehicles exist? The new Regulation, in its Article 4, establishes a classification of historic vehicles into two groups . Group A includes vehicles that meet the requirements of Article 3.1, have ordinary Spanish registration, and have a valid vehicle inspection (ITV) .
On the other hand, Group B includes the remaining vehicles listed in Article 3 that do not meet the above criteria. Also included in this group are those vehicles that, although they do meet these criteria, the owner prefers to obtain a historic license plate because the assigned ordinary license plate does not correspond to the actual date of manufacture or registration of the vehicle.
