Martin, is Brno closer? He returns to the track with an Aprilia in Barcelona: "Never been afraid"

Jorge Martin is back on a motorbike. The reigning MotoGP champion took a test on the Montmelò track, near Barcelona, with an Aprilia RSV4. The 27-year-old Spaniard made the announcement on social media. Martin posted two photos, one in the pits and the other in action, along with a short, very clear text: “Never afraid, back on the bike after three months”. In fact, excluding the parade at the Aprilia “All Star” in June, Jorge hadn’t been on a motorbike since the unfortunate Qatar Grand Prix on 13 April. On that occasion, the rider fell, was almost hit by Fabio Di Giannantonio and suffered a serious injury: hemopneumothorax and multiple rib fractures.
Martin's test comes a few days after the results of the medical tests to assess his recovery process. At the moment, the Aprilia rider has not been authorized to return to the track with a MotoGP. His recovery from the scaphoid injury and rib fractures is good, but not yet complete, thus inducing the doctors to postpone his return by at least two weeks. It is impossible to see him in action at the Sachsenring: the Spaniard will miss the German Grand Prix, which will take place between 11 and 13 July. However, training at the Montmelò Circuit could be a good sign towards Brno. The Czech Republic GP is scheduled for 18 to 20 July and Jorge could have the necessary time to return. But everything will depend on the next moves.

In fact, these will be intense days for Martin. The Spaniard will have to undergo new medical tests at the beginning of next week. Only then will it be known exactly whether Jorge will be able to ride a MotoGP before the summer break, which will last from July 20 to August 15. Furthermore, based on the outcome of the tests, the 2024 world champion will understand when he will be able to carry out a private test with the Aprilia RS-GP before returning to the World Championship. This track test was made possible by the change to the regulation, which allows an injured rider to gradually regain confidence with the racing bike through a test session. Martin seems raring to go, but he will still have to wait a few more days.
