Changan is planning to build a factory in Europe

Chinese automaker Changan is planning to build a European factory to support its future sales in the Old Continent and is evaluating possible locations for the plant. “We believe in the importance of being present in Europe. We are working on locally produced solutions right here,” explained Nic Thomas, Changan’s European head of marketing and sales, during a test drive of the Deepal S07 electric SUV near London. Thomas added that he was unable to discuss the timing of the European plant, but said that as we are achieving ever-higher sales volumes, we are already in the crucial planning phase. Changan sold 600,000 cars outside of China last year and is aiming to reach one million vehicles this year. Changan is also a partner of Ford in China and is launching the Deepal S07 in Germany, Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands. The Deepal S05 model will go on sale this year, followed by the Changan E07 in 2026. The Chinese brand said it is ready to increase its European sales network to more than 1,000 dealerships by 2030 based on approximately 100 operational in 2025. As for the range of models intended for marketing in Europe, Changan expects to have a European offering consisting of eight models in the coming years.
