Audi A6 Sportback e-tron, here's what you need to know and how it goes. Dimensions, performance and prices

Audi's first electric sedan, the A6 e-tron, already known as a station wagon, alias Variant, fits into the Sportback line that integrates ten models and which in Italy makes up the lion's share in terms of sales. With an appearance that is almost the mirror image of those of the variants that have engines with electrified pistons under the hood, it contrasts, in particular, with the Bmw i5 and the Mercedes Eqe.

The A6 Sportback e-tron range is based on the Ppe architecture that Audi developed with Porsche for full-electric models, which is the same on which the two variants of the Q6 are also based. However, it should not be understood as a simple sedan interpretation of the SUV. Of course, there are many points of contact. Namely, skateboards, high-density battery sizes, 800 V electric platforms and E3 1.2 electronics with everything that the integration with Android Automotive OS brings with it towards digitalization, the intuitiveness of human-machine interaction thanks to the support of ChatGPT and the intelligent voice assistant with self-learning function that allows you to control various functions of the car. Then, the A6 e-tron family takes its own path with higher-powered powertrains, while still offering two rear-wheel drive versions and two four-wheel drive versions, but managing to offer the best mileage of all the e-trons thanks to its valid aerodynamic profiling, which translates into a Cx of 0.21 which is the best ever for a road-going Audi.

The range is divided into the single-engine e-tron “and that’s it” versions with 326 HP powered by a 75.8 kWh net battery and the long-range Performance variant with 381 HP and a 94.9 kWh battery that becomes standard for the two twin-engine proposals with electric quattro all-wheel drive: the e-tron with 462 HP and the S6 with 551 HP. The ranges of these e-trons range from 627 to 756 kilometers promised by the Performance. As for charging, they can be done both in alternating current at 11 kW and direct current up to 270 kW, with which a recovery from 10 to 80% is done in 20 minutes and 310 kilometers of autonomy can be recovered in 10 minutes.

4.93 meters long, 1.92 meters wide, 1.49 meters high and with a wheelbase of 2.95 meters, the A6 is the only four-door Sportback and has a silhouette that recalls that of the coupé. The smooth and streamlined appearance camouflages solutions designed to benefit aerodynamics such as the vents in correspondence with the wheel arches that favor the cleaning of the flows in the side area, the spoilers in front of the front and rear wheels, applied to the underbody, and the front air intake with vents adjustable by small electric motors, which allow the incoming air to cool the brakes, the possible electric motor at the front axle and the battery pack without triggering turbulence.

The interior design is stylistically in line with that of the other more recent ones. In particular, that of the Q6 electric SUVs. For the record, even in the case of the A6 with Ice engines. The environment thus emanates an atmosphere in which elegance, refinement and hi-tech are combined, since the dashboard can be dominated by three displays when the 11.9” instrument cluster and the 14.5” infotainment display are joined by the 10.9” one in front of the passenger. The combination of these features and the spaciousness of the interior that can also be underlined by the electro-chromatic panoramic roof that can be opaque even only partially, allow the A6 Sportback to offer hospitality as a perfect flagship. The trunk capacity is adequate for the size of the car, since it ranges from 502 to 1,330 liters.
