Marc Marquez (Ducati) took pole position for the Hungarian MotoGP Grand Prix after setting the fastest time in qualifying on Saturday. Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) finished sixth.
Spaniard Marc Marquez (Ducati) took pole position for the Hungarian MotoGP Grand Prix after setting the fastest time in qualifying on Saturday, while Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) took sixth place.
The world championship leader, untouchable since June with six consecutive sprint-Grand Prix doubles, once again crushed the competition on the brand new Balaton Park track located near Lake Balaton, a favorite holiday resort for Hungarians located around 100 kilometers from the capital, Budapest.

The six-time world champion in the category, who took the 74th pole of his career, beat the Italians Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) and Fabio Di Ginannantonio (Ducati-VR46), who had had to go through Q1, the first part of qualifying, a few minutes earlier.

Behind the Catalan, it's a group shot from the Alps since the fourth and fifth places will be occupied by Enea Bastiannini (KTM-Tech3) and Franco Morbidelli (Ducati-VR46).
Quartararo, who had snatched his place in Q2 by just a thousandth of a second on Friday after a complicated day, set a fine sixth fastest time on Saturday and will therefore start on the second row.
The other Frenchman on the grid, Johann Zarco (Honda-LCR), who has been struggling since the start of the weekend in Hungary, could only do eighth in Q1 and will start well behind the leader, in 18th position.
