The Brazilian Grand Prix kicks off this Friday

The Brazilian Grand Prix , one of the most iconic races on the Formula 1 calendar, kicks off this Friday with the only free practice session at the legendary Interlagos circuit. With just four races remaining, the championship enters its most intense and dramatic phase, as the world title is still wide open between Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, and a Max Verstappen who has regained his form in the final stretch of the year.

Following his resounding victory in Mexico City, Lando Norris arrives in Brazil as the championship leader with 357 points , just one point ahead of his teammate Oscar Piastri. The internal battle at McLaren has defined the season, fueled by a dominant car that secured the constructors' title in early October. Norris has already racked up six wins: Australia, Monaco, Austria, Great Britain, Hungary, and Mexico , the latter by more than 30 seconds over Charles Leclerc. The Briton knows that any mistake could upset the standings, especially on a circuit as technical and unpredictable as Interlagos.

Max Verstappen, three-time champion in Brazil (2019, 2013, and 2014) , remains a real threat. Trailing by 36 points and showing clear signs of improvement, the Dutchman sees this weekend as a crucial opportunity, especially with the penultimate Sprint race of the year. Rain, which has historically favored him, could be a decisive factor, particularly considering Norris struggled in wet conditions last season.

Brazilian fans will also experience an emotional moment with the return of a local driver: Sauber rookie Gabriel Bortoleto , who will be the first Brazilian to compete in his country since Felipe Massa in 2017.

The lead-up to the race is also marked by uncertainty at Williams, after Carlos Sainz missed Thursday's press conference due to a fever and sore throat. The team is hoping for his full recovery so he can participate from Friday onwards in a weekend featuring continuous activity and a Sprint format.
