Verstappen: If the Red Bull engine flops, it's not the end of the world

Verstappen: If the Red Bull engine flops, it's not the end of the world

(Motorsport-Total.com) - Max Verstappen has won all four of his Formula 1 world championship titles with Honda power in the rear, but at the end of the season the successful partnership will come to an end: While the Japanese are moving to Aston Martin, Red Bull is teaming up with returning Ford for its own engine project from 2026 .

Max Verstappen does not yet know what awaits him in 2026, but remains calm Zoom

Whether everything will go smoothly with such an ambitious undertaking is, of course, anyone's guess. Verstappen doesn't have any answers to that either: "Everyone is pushing at full speed, everyone is doing their best. That's the only thing you can do," but the world champion has complete confidence in his team, which, according to him, is already working hard on 2026.

Before the upcoming change in regulations, it is only "natural" that the focus is split in two and not just on the current season. The fact that there are a few question marks behind the immediate performance of the new project does not worry Verstappen: "Yes, but everyone has those, right?"

Verstappen has confidence: "I believe what people tell me"

The four-time world champion explains: "I'm not saying it will be super easy to be competitive right away. But we believe we can do a good job and I believe what people tell me."

Verstappen continued: "Besides, of course I can stress about it now - but isn't that just wasted energy? I think we'll find out when the car goes on the track for the first time, then we'll see it anyway." The Dutchman added: "I just don't want to worry too much in my life anymore. If it's bad, it's bad. If it's good, it's good. Life goes on."

That's why the 27-year-old prefers to concentrate on the present and reality: "We're already working on '26, like many other teams. Let's wait and see. I can speculate a lot about how it will turn out. But there's no reason for that." After all, "everything is still unknown," as Verstappen states.

"So you can be as confident as you want now - but ultimately nobody knows where they stand. All I know is that everyone here is working under pressure, they are doing their best. And that's really the only thing you can ask for," said the Red Bull driver relaxed.
