First look at new Alpine: A525 with shakedown in Bahrain

(Motorsport-Total.com) - Alpine's A525 has completed its first kilometers in Bahrain: The first look at the Frenchman's new car and the first impressions for the two regular drivers Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan, who "shared the maiden voyage equally", as team boss Oliver Oakes subsequently reported.

Officially, the racing team completed the shakedown during a filming day: according to the regulations, a maximum of 200 kilometers could be covered on special demo tires. At the big Formula 1 presentation in London just under a week ago, Alpine only showed the paint job for 2025, but not the current car.

"It's just a shakedown, limited driving, so it's not like we can exploit the full potential of the car. But in terms of the first feeling, it was smooth," explains Gasly after the first drive: "I'm really looking forward to getting started and doing a proper run with the car when the official tests start later in the week."

Alpine has already announced the internal schedule for the test, with both drivers working half days on each day. "It will obviously be busy days where we have to go through a lot of things to develop the A525 before the start of the season," explains newcomer Doohan, who only competed in his first Grand Prix at the Formula 1 season finale in Abu Dhabi.

For team boss Oakes, it is clear that there are "a lot of interesting areas on the new car so that we can learn and progress".

After finishing sixth in the Constructors' World Championship last year, the racing team has set its sights on a top-five finish for 2025, according to number-one driver Gasly. The first steps towards this goal have already been taken since Monday.
