With a new E-Axle Repair Tool, Schaeffler's specialist department (Vehicle Lifetime Solutions) aims to expand its range of services for the repair of electric drive units. This complex tool is designed to enable precise, safe, and contact-free disassembly and assembly of the rotor and stator.

Instead of replacing entire electric motors, defective components can be repaired in a targeted manner. This reduces costs for vehicle owners and is intended to support a sustainable circular economy.

"Repair instead of replace: This requires the right specialized tools. As a technology pioneer, we set the standards here," emphasizes Stephan Niese, Director of Global Product Management ePowertrain at Schaeffler Vehicle Lifetime Solutions. This tool is considered an important step toward making electromobility more economical, sustainable, and repairable in the long term.

The disassembly tool is said to be characterized by high rigidity, mechanical precision, and universal adaptability to different electric motor types. During disassembly, the heavy-duty construction ensures that the rotor and stator are safely separated despite strong magnetic forces. Press forces of up to 10,000 Newtons also enable the easy removal of stuck seals and the pressing in of new bearings without causing damage to the components.

A key criterion in electric motor repair is precise guidance when removing the rotor: This prevents contact between the rotor and stator, preventing wear and tear that could, in the worst case, lead to motor damage. Open access via three working sides is intended to simplify ergonomic handling in the workshop.

The E-Axle Repair Tool is aimed at workshops that want to specialize in electric motor repair. It is available now and is compatible with existing Schaeffler repair solutions for electric axle drives, including the E-Axle RepSystem-G and E-Axle RepSystem-M systems.
