Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio: Bye petrol, diesel lives on

Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio: Bye petrol, diesel lives on

Following the discontinuation of the Quadrifoglio variants of the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio, the end of the order period for the gasoline versions has now also been confirmed. The Giulia and Stelvio models with the 280 hp 2.0-liter turbo engine can only be ordered in Germany until September 11, 2025. The order list will finally close on September 12, the brand announced today.

Anyone who still wants to secure one should therefore contact an Alfa Romeo dealer as soon as possible. Prices start at €63,100 for the Stelvio , and €58,500 for the Giulia . In August 2025, the brand registered exactly 85 Giulias and 118 Stelvios in Germany. Both account for a good 35 percent of the brand's sales in this country.

The diesel variants of the Giulia and Stelvio will also be temporarily discontinued. However, the order freeze will only be in effect for a short time: The diesel models will be available again from November 2025 and will initially remain in the range with no set end date – even beyond the turn of the year.

The phase-out of the current model series is part of Alfa Romeo's model strategy. Successors for the Giulia (introduced in 2015) and Stelvio (on the market since 2017) have already been announced. These will be based on the STLA Large platform and will offer different drivetrain concepts. However, the manufacturer is currently withholding concrete details.

The new Stelvio is likely to be available both as a combustion engine and as a pure electric vehicle. The new Dodge Charger could serve as a model. It is also available as a four-door sedan (possibly the basis for a new Giulia) and, in addition to electric drivetrains, also has a twin-turbo inline six-cylinder engine called the Hurricane.

Fine-tuning tests of the first prototypes of the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio have already taken place in Sweden at the Stellantis Proving Ground Center in Arjeplog. The second generation of the D-segment SUV will be produced in Italy at the Cassino plant and is scheduled to be officially unveiled by the end of this year.
