PITTSBURGH -- In his much-anticipated Pittsburgh debut, Russell Wilson threw two touchdown passes and added a rushing touchdown, leading the Steelers to a decisive 37-15 victory over the New York Jets, who were led by Aaron Rodgers on Sunday night.

The 35-year-old Wilson, recovering from a calf injury, proved head coach Mike Tomlin's choice to start him over Justin Fields was justified. Wilson finished the game with 264 passing yards, overcoming a slow beginning to connect with George Pickens and Van Jefferson for touchdowns.

Despite the Jets’ revamped offense, which included Davante Adams, who was reacquired from Las Vegas, they struggled to keep pace and fell to 2-5, marking their fourth consecutive loss under interim coach Jeff Ulbrich.

Rodgers managed 276 passing yards and tossed a touchdown, but was intercepted twice by Pittsburgh’s rookie cornerback Beanie Bishop, which proved crucial in shifting momentum. Though the Jets initially led 15-6, an interception by Bishop helped the Steelers regain control.

Wilson's swift drive before halftime culminated in a touchdown to Pickens, providing Pittsburgh with vital momentum. The Steelers briefly took the lead with Chris Boswell’s field goal before Wilson's second rushing touchdown secured the win.

Tomlin’s gamble on Wilson over Fields raised eyebrows, but Wilson exhibited command against a strong defense, completing 16 of 29 attempts. Pickens notched 111 receiving yards, while the Jets faced multiple injury setbacks, including Xavier Newman and Alijah Vera-Tucker.

Next, the Jets will visit the New England Patriots, while the Steelers will host the New York Giants on October 28.
