Lando Norris (4th) to Verstappen: "What should I do?"

Could this be a turning point in the championship? Until his spectacular pole-to-victory drive in Singapore, Lando Norris had been chipping away at Max Verstappen's lead through the previous four GP weekends before Austin (Texas). However, Verstappen has struck back—winning both the sprint and the Grand Prix in Texas, leaving Norris in a challenging fourth place after receiving a penalty, resulting in lost points.

Norris found himself not leading at the start and missed a critical opportunity to overtake Verstappen. Reflecting on the race, he remarked, "It's hard to say. The race stewards took a few laps to decide, indicating they struggled with the ruling." He pointed out, "Max also went off the track, which in my view gave him an advantage." Although he contemplated if he could have done more, he acknowledged that Verstappen had indeed taken risks to find a narrow gap that paid off. "Max drove well and defended fiercely," he added.

Although the McLaren team struggled for speed compared to Ferrari, Norris expressed a desire for the third position, insisting they deserved it. "Even if I had gotten out of Turn 1 first, I probably still would have finished third." He concluded that it had been a challenging weekend overall and emphasized the need for McLaren to step up against Ferrari to regain competitiveness.
