J.T. Poston Claims 3rd PGA Tour Title After Long Day in Las Vegas

J.T. Poston Secures Victory at Shriners Children's Open

LAS VEGAS -- J.T. Poston clinched his third career PGA Tour title at the Shriners Children's Open, finishing with a 4-under 67 for a one-shot victory. Poston built a substantial lead with a series of birdies, maintaining a three-shot advantage after the third round, which he concluded with a 20-foot birdie putt on the 14th hole.

In the final round, he recorded three birdies in a four-hole stretch, allowing him to lead by four strokes with three holes remaining. However, he faced a tense finish as Doug Ghim, who closed with a 65, made a 6-foot birdie putt on the last hole to narrow the gap to one shot. Poston's final putt, which he sank from 4 feet after lagging his longer attempt, secured his victory with a total score of 22-under 262.

Poston's victory is particularly significant as it guarantees him a spot in the Masters for the third consecutive year and propels him back into the top 50 in the world rankings. This win marks a triumphant return to competitive play for Poston, who had taken time off following the birth of his daughter.

Ghim's stellar performance earned him a runner-up finish, the highest of his PGA Tour career. Despite his efforts, including an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole, he missed several key birdie opportunities.

Matti Schmid also shone, finishing tied for third with Rico Hoey, both scoring a 66. Schmid's strong showing improves his standing in the FedEx Cup rankings, which determines eligibility for future events.

The PGA Tour will next head to Japan for the Zozo Championship before concluding the season with three additional tournaments in North America.
