Wheeler Dealers star's £2,000 tip to ‘boost car engine performance’ - adding just one part

Ex-Wheeler Dealers presenter Ant Anstead has revealed a simple hack motorists can take advantage of to boost their car’s power.
The former host of the classic car TV series previously explained how motorists can boost their engine ability by fitting a crucial tool on the back of their vehicles.
Ant stressed that fitting a ceramic coating exhaust on the back of their machine was key to generating more performance.
He stressed the ceramic coating can "retain heat” which puts “less pressure on the engine” and therefore will help generate more horsepower.
This will make the car go faster and is a vital strategy for motorists considering tuning up their model.
Ant previously revealed the hack while working on rebuilding a classic car Mike had found for the show.
Ant quickly admitted the model was down by around 30hp with the simple hack just one of several methods undertaken by Ant to boost the historical performance.
Ant said: “This stuff was pioneered by NASA in the 70s. It’s used on spaceships.
“This silver ceramic coating retains the heat within the exhaust tubes. Hot gases expand and flow more quickly. This means less back pressure on the engine and more horsepower.”
Performance-Coatings admitted that ceramics would increase the speed of the exhaust gas flow offering extra benefits.
Meanwhile, the upgrade could also prolong the life of the part with ceramic easier to clean and maintain.
Experts have also stressed that ceramic coating will also provide protection against rust and corrosion.
Funk Motorsport admitted that the work could be costly, with some road users set to pay up to £2,000 to have it completed.
However, they revealed that costs could be as low as £750 in some cases depending on the type of vehicle motorists own.
They explained: “Ceramic coating is an irreversible process in which will electrically bond the ceramic particles to the exhaust system. This is achieved by using a special process using specialist equipment.
“As you can expect, this is a costly application, with prices ranging between £750-£2000 per exhaust system, depending on the grade of ceramics you chose, the complexity of your system, as well as the company that you chose to perform the work.”
