SONOMA, Calif. — Shane van Gisbergen did it again.

The 36-year-old New Zealand driver won the pole for Saturday’s Pit Boss/Food Maxx 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race during qualifying Friday afternoon at Sonoma Raceway.

Van Gisbergen, who also won the pole and the Xfinity Series race last weekend at the Chicago Street Course, drove the No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet to a lap of 75.259 seconds at 95.191 mph.

It was not only his second consecutive pole, but his second at Sonoma and his fifth in only 35 series races.

Rookie Connor Zilisch, van Gisbergen’s teammate, posted the second quickest lap for his 14th top-10 start of the season.

Sam Mayer qualified third aboard the Factory Haas Ford No. 41, while Jesse Love grabbed fourth in a Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet.

William Sawalich, who won the pole for Friday’s ARCA West race, qualified fifth in the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.
