Update: Jessica Simpson updated her husband Stewart’s condition shortly after 5 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

“Stewart continues to be in serious but stable condition here at a hospital in Quebec. He will be transferred to a hospital in New York tomorrow, where multiple surgeries will take place in the coming days.

“We want to thank everyone here at the hospital in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, for the outstanding care and several members of the racing community who have helped facilitate getting Stewart closer to home.

“The outpouring of support from all of our racing family has been overwhelming in the best way. Thank you for all of your outreach and encouragement as we continue to work through the next steps in Stewart’s recovery.”

DRUMMONDVILLE, Quebec — Northeast modified kingpin and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular Stewart Friesen was seriously injured in a crash Monday night at the Autodrome Drummond.

Friesen was involved in a multi-car crash, which saw his familiar No. 44 modified flip and be impacted by oncoming traffic.

Friesen’s wife, Jessica, who is also a successful racer, updated his condition this morning on social media.

“As you know by now, Stewart was involved in a multi-car accident at Autodrome Drummond in Quebec last night. CT scans have come back clear of any head, neck or spine injuries. Unfortunately, he is still in a tremendous amount of pain,” she posted.

“Stewart has suffered an unstable/open-book pelvic fracture, meaning his pelvis is broken in two or more places, with a large hematoma on the area. Stewart also has a fractured right leg. Both of these injuries will require surgery. Stewart was transferred to a larger hospital this morning for these procedures.”

A winner of more than 400 short-track features during his career, the 42-year-old Friesen is a full-time competitor in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Friesen secured a playoff spot in the Truck Series when he drove his Halmar Friesen Racing No. 52 to victory at Michigan Int’l Speedway in June.
