SEALED UNDER PRESSURE: Anthony Macri

Pennsylvania sprint car driver Anthony Macri has been chasing national touring stars the likes of Kyle Larson, Rico Abreu and David Gravel for several years. On Saturday night, Macri left them all in the dust to win the 42 nd running of the Kings Royal at Ohio’s Eldora Speedway.
Becoming only the third driver from the Keystone state to win the signature sprint car event at the half-mile race track owned by Tony Stewart, Macri led every lap, holding off Abreu and Larson to bank the biggest prize of his career — $200,000.
The Concrete Kid is only the fifth driver to win $200,000 or more in a single race. It was a crowning achievement for a driver who nearly gave up the sport a few years ago.
