Watkins Glen, N.Y. – The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen marks the sixth IMSA race weekend of 2025 and the unofficial halfway point of the campaign, with three of the four IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship classes either at or past the halfway point.

Additionally, three of the four class points leaders changed after a wet-dry-hot combination in the race.

In Grand Touring Prototype (GTP), Porsche Penske Motorsport maintained the lead, but for the first time it’s the No. 6 Porsche 963 of Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell out front of teammates Nick Tandy and Felipe Nasr in the No. 7 Porsche 963.

On a day of damage limitation, Porsche’s No. 6 duo of “the Matts” eked out a fourth-place finish, while Tandy’s accident exiting Turn 1 dropped the No. 7 car to a season-worst 11th. The No. 7 pair led by 70 points going into the weekend but leave it down 12 – or less than one position – behind their teammates with three races remaining.

The No. 93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb-Agajanian Acura ARX-06, No. 24 BMW M Team RLL BMW M Hybrid V8, No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac V-Series.R and No. 60 Acura MSR Acura are all covered within 46 points themselves from third through sixth but range from 262 to 308 points back of the lead. It’d take both Porsches having problems to bring this quartet closer to the lead pack.

With their second win in three of seven Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) races, United Autosports USA ascends to the top of the charts with its No. 22 ORECA LMP2 07 trio of Paul Di Resta, Daniel Goldburg and Rasmus Lindh, 94 points clear of the second-placed No. 74 Riley ORECA of Gar Robinson, Felipe Fraga and Josh Burdon. With Di Resta due to miss the next round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park with a conflict, Goldburg will race alongside a new co-driver.

Another change comes in Grand Touring Daytona Pro (GTD PRO) as the consistency of the No. 3 Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports sees its Corvette Z06 GT3.R ascend to the top with four podiums in five races. Antonio Garcia and Alexander Sims now lead 2024 class champion Laurin Heinrich and co-driver Klaus Bachler in AO Racing’s No. 77 Porsche 911 GT3 R by 52 points.

And while Winward Racing didn’t lose the points lead in Grand Touring Daytona (GTD), getting caught up in an incident shortened their lead. It went from 124 points entering Watkins Glen to 60 leaving it. Defending GTD champions Russell Ward and Philip Ellis in their No. 57 Mercedes-AMG GT3 are now just ahead of Watkins Glen winner Casper Stevenson in the No. 27 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo. The No. 12 Vasser Sullivan Racing Lexus RC F GT3 was poised to win and take over the points lead before a heartbreaking end for Jack Hawksworth with running out of fuel on the last lap. Alas, he and Parker Thompson are still in it at 76 points back.

GTP has three races left, LMP2 has four and both GT classes have five left as the calendar flips to July. LMP2, GTD PRO and GTD race next in the Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Sunday, July 13.
