Drivers told about 'secret' button fitted inside Range Rover models

Motorists have been shown a secret button installed on newer Range Rover models with motorists able to assign two functions. Experts at TikTok channel @rangeroverplus revealed the diamond-shape button located on Range Rover car steering wheels is fully customisable with road users able to pick any setting for the simple switch.

Motorists can programme two functions on the button with a feature assigned when the button is short-pressed and long-pressed. Drivers can programme the tool through their settings on the pre-installed infotainment screen in just a matter of seconds. However, many owners choose to assign the switch as the car’s start/stop button making the setting easily accessible while behind the wheel.

TikTok channel @rangeroverplus said: “Hey Range Rover owners. Did you know that this little diamond button here on your steering wheel can be your secret shortcut. So that button, in your 2023 model Range Rivers and up, can be fully customisable. I'm going to show you how you can customise it.

“You’re going to go here to your settings. Then you're going to make sure you click on apps. Then you're going to go to the diamond button. It allows you to programme two functions, you have the short press and the long press.

“So for the short press what I like to do is select the auto stop/start and for the second function which is long press, what I'm going to pick is a driver seat massage.”

Other features that can be assigned to the button include activating traffic alerts or accessing voicemails.

Meanwhile, the button can also be used as a handy way to switch between music tracks or pausing songs. However, the TikTok experts were not the only ones to use the button as a handy way to access the car's stop/start features.

An online Range Rover forum was packed with individuals explaining the diamond button was a nice addition and a perfect place for the key feature.

One explained: “Also use mine for start/stop function. Sometimes have to press it twice but a very practical use case of the diamond."

Another added: “Just discovered the diamond-shaped button on the steering wheel. It’s a programmable button. Great for me! I programmed short press for massage seats. Long press turns start/stop off. No more going into the screen.”
