Cyclist fumes at 'entitled' drivers who make 'selfish mistake' on roads

A cyclist has hit out at "entitled" drivers who keep making the same "selfish" error "every time" he goes on a bike ride. The man recently vented his frustration after another car appeared to block off the cycle lane by parking over it, and it clearly left him very frustrated. On social media platform Reddit, he wrote: "I'm sick to death of cars parking on cycle lanes. This happens each and every time I ride."
In the picture you can see a red car has parked in the cycle lane, and is also on double yellow lines. The parking error has left many people floored as they can't believe the driver thought it was a good idea.
There's also a second picture, which shows two other cars blocking the cycle lane too. It's left many road users in total disbelief.
One person replied, saying: "As a bonus I got a driver blocking a permanent bike line shout at me for trying to use the lane. Just today. They simply don't care about anyone but themselves."
Another wrote: "I had a driver chase me with his car just because I went around him while he was parked in a segregated bike lane. Some drivers are nuts. Sadly they can do whatever they want."
A third replied: "Drives me nuts. What's the point in having a dedicated lane if I have to go into the road every 20 seconds anyway?"
Meanwhile, a fourth had a different view, writing: "Isn't it a shame that people don't consider others? People parking in cycle lanes really inconveniences cyclists.
"As a pedestrian, I'm inconvenienced and often put in danger by cyclists cycling on pavements, in pedestrian-only areas, ignoring red lights, ignoring pedestrian crossings etc.
"But, that's life, and I adjust my actions accordingly. I guess cyclists will have to do the same in this case."
Many seemed to think that the decision to park in cycle lanes was "entitled" though. People suggested a lot of drivers claim they will "only be a minute" but, for many, this is still unacceptable and cyclists are furious it keeps happening.
Generally, it is considered illegal to park in cycle lanes, particularly those that are mandatory and marked with solid white lines. Drivers are not permitted to drive or park in mandatory cycle lanes marked with a solid white line, according to the Highway Code.
Drivers are sometimes allowed to park in advisory cycle lanes, which have dashed white lines, if it's not unavoidable, however; they should try not to do this. If there are any waiting restrictions or parking restrictions (like yellow lines) in place, drivers shouldn't park in the cycle lane, even if it has a dashed line, according to the Highway Code.
Loocal authorities can make use of CCTV and approved camera devices to enforce the rules, and can also issue PCNs to drivers who park illegally.
The Transport for London website reads: "Cycle lanes are listed in The Highway Code and are not unique to TfL red routes. They are separated from general traffic by a white solid or dashed line.
"Sometimes the cycle lane will be a different colour from the rest of the road. The start of a cycle lane is marked by a sign at the roadside and markings on the road surface.
"Only pedal cycles and rental electric scooters can use cycle lanes. To make roads safer for cyclists, all other road users, including motorcycles and other types of scooters, may not use cycle lanes."
